Iron Maiden Declared "Dad Rockers"
On a recently posted list of the top five "dad rockers", described as "a duffer's guide to the 'seasoned showbiz pros' who've gatecrashed the Top 40 party and complained about the noise", on the official website of BBC's Top of the Pops, Maiden hit the second spot, right after Elvis Presley, which the following description:No danger of British reserve and understatement it with this lot. The Maiden were named after a medieval torture device (imagine a metal wardrobe with spikes inside, or if you're a goth, imagine a wardobe) and hell-bent on making the sort of racket you'd expect to hear just outside a medieval torture device, only with electric guitars. They were wearing rock chic before it was fashionable, and yet this does not make them style icons. Their amps have only two settings, 'Too Loud' and 'Too Louder', their singer is a champion at the noble art of fencing and their drummer is called Nicko McBrain. Beat that, Girls Aloud!
The last three positions were taken by Yusuf, Erasure and Band Aid.
