Server must have some problems as it didn't post this one as the top news... Was the time reset or anything ?
Hope someone can fix this, since these figures are very interesting and should appear at the top.
Cheers
It seems that this topic is right on time ! The other two at the top were posted yesterday but appear as if they were posted in the future (today afternoon).
Cheers
This was an interesting list. Thank you very much for the info. I know that some IM albums are certified gold (500,000) and platinum in the US (1 million sales). These are the following:
1982's Number of the Beast is certified gold
1983's Piece of Mind is certified platinum
1984's Powerslave is certified platinum
1985's Live After Death is certified platinum
1986's Somewhere in Time is certified double platinum (2 million sales)
1988's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is gold
1990's No Prayer for the Dying is gold
1992's Fear of the Dark is gold
Remember that Soundscan started since 1991, so I would think that Piece of Mind has sold about 1,347,400 copies. 1,000,000 from 1983-1991 and 347,400 from 1991-present.

It depends on when they were certified. If it's after 91, it means that we have some overlap. Plus, SoundScan counts the album sold, while the certification takes into consideration the albums shipped. That's a big difference.
Finally, it's interesting to note that because Maiden had some change of record companies in the US, they are not up-to-date in their certifications, since it's the record company that has to ask and to pay for it !!

Something REALLY odd has been happening with the times on the server I have'nt a clue what it is yet though
I know that Powerslave and Live After Death were certified platinum (1,000,000) in the summer of 1991.
I would think that Iron Maiden have sold more than the numbers shown here on Soundscan.
Up the Irons forever!
Wow, BLAZE can play to all their US fans on a tiny gig
well, the BLAZE albums went on sale in the US last year, as they didn't have a record deal for the US market before. Hardcore fans got EU imports before the US versions were out, and seeing that Blaze have no promotion whatsoever it's no big surprise that the albums didn't sell well.

but its tragedy - selling less than 1000 copies for ex-Maiden singer
fortunately, its only US
Thanks Maideneer! Very interesting!
The BLAZE numbers are very sad.
They sold less than Dokken, Gwar, LA Guns, Vince Neil or Quiet Riot...
I think Pink Cream 69 sold less....
Can't say that the record company helped a lot. That's really a shame.
Cheers
Maiden have less than 20 millions albums sold in the US, that's a sure fact. But by how much, I don't know.
POM was certified platinum in 86
NOTB: platinum in 86
P: platinum in 91
LAD: platinum in 91
SIT: platinum in 92
K: gold in 87
SSOASS: gold in 88
NPFTD: gold in 90
Basically, we miss the number of sales of the first album up to 91. We know Killers sold 500000 up to 87 (missing 87-91). NOTB sold one million up to 86 (missing 86-91). POM had one million in 86 (missing 86-91). Powerslave sold one million up to 91, so we can have a rough idea of the exact sales. SIT sold one million up to 92, so there's some overlap between 91 and 92 with the SoundScan numbers. SSOASS sold 500000 in 1988 but we're missing the numbers up to 91. NPFTD has the same number in 90, so there a small margin for the few months leading to the SoundScan system.

Added the Samson releases.
Cheers
Added the Wolfsbane numbers.

Though this is fascinating, is it really important? I mean, everyone knows Maiden's area isn't North America. Or at least the United States. Not anymore, anyway.
So these numbers are from 1991 on, or from just last year?

I think it's very interesting. Of course it's not important, but then, sales numbers aren't important to the normal fan anyway.
I don't think these numbers are artistically important, either.
But, they are important in two ways:
1) Maiden puts the importance on sales for a lot of its press release do come with a snipet telling how much they sold without airplay.
2) They shed a light on the US tours controversy (not enough dates, focus on other parts of the world).
Cheers
Metal-Sludge:
As of February 9, 2005
Iron Maiden “Edward the Great” 134,801
4000 copies more. It really sells good. It could surpass DOD soon.
