Lauren Harris to Play Solo Concert

Posted by Real World on July 23, 2005 @ 09:01

According to Blabbermouth.net, Lauren Harris, daughter of Steve Harris, will be performing with her solo band this Saturday, July 23 at Surf Cafe in Boca Raton, Florida. "As a personal favor to Steve and Iron Maiden, we would very much like for as many people to come out and support her," Deepset guitarist Rick Baum, who plays with Nicko McBrain in McBrain Damage, told Blabbermouth. Members of McBrain Damage/Deepset (Jonathan, Rick and former Black Sabbath/Great White bassist Dave 'The Beast' Spitz) will be attending. Also expected to attend are Danny Spitz from Anthrax and Patrik Johansson from Ymggwie Malmsteen."

Lauren Harris is currently recording a solo album in Miami with Grammy-nominated writer/producer Tom McWilliams and is taking a break from the recording sessions to play several shows.

Surf Cafe is located at 395 NE Spanish River Blvd. in Boca Raton, Florida.

The mp3 samples are pop music - not electronic pop, but pop/rock style with real instruments. Her voice sounds good but not great, though it sounds like she has the talent to improve to being a great singer someday. Not saying she *will*, but I think she *can*.

The video shows live and rehearsal footage of her with her own band - it doesn't sound like the same band from the studio recordings. It also shows that studio magic greatly helps her voice; I wasn't impressed with her live singing at all. Again, there's a strong possibility that she will improve, but right now it just sounds like any other amateur band.

However, the style of her live material, while still pop/rock, goes more towards the rock side of that spectrum. You'd never bang your head to that material, but it definitely has a harder edge than the studio songs. Given the choice between the polished pop from the studio or live rock with all the mistakes and rough edges, I personally prefer the live stuff.

Yeah, three posts in a row to actually say nothing...

1. it's spam
2. trying to increase your post count like this is not only annoying but it also serves no purpose.

3. stop doing that!

No he married again. As a matter of fact he had a new baby in 2003 or 2002. He has 6 kids.

Crazy how time flies? Last time, I saw that gal (in a french metal mag), it was like 86 & she was like 2 years old, tiny lil' thing in the tattoed arms of her so proud and caring rockin' dad. And the next thing I know, she's holdin her own little rock'n'roll circus. History repeats itself. For the good I hope. and with Adrian's son havin' a go at the guitar as zell, they might end up doing a common "famous musicians's offspring" project. Might duet with Kelly O too...

Of course everyone would like to marry her since that magical day would come where we'd get to meet the parents

Who cares? I only care about Maiden's music, not their personal lives.

In this case, Lauren Harris is using her father's name to help her career get started (presumably, she has her father's permission to do so). But the other members of Maiden have **not** bothered to tell you about their kids. It's probable that they wish to maintain their privacy, so please respect that.

I bought the Back on the Edge single, where it stands written by B. Dickinson and A. Dickson

Is it Alex Dickinson, Bruces son with a misspelling?

#2639, July 25, 2005 @ 21:29

elhefe said:

No, alex dickson is a scottish guitar player who has also played with bands such as Gun or Robbie Williams

But according to that, the song "laughing in the hiding bush" from the "balls to picasso" album was co-written by Austin Dickinson, which in fact, is bruce´s son

> Who cares? I only care about Maiden's music, not their personal lives.

According to Sinisterministerx´s post: it was only an easy joke, not an intention to get into their private life, thanx anyway
