Rockin for Tots

on October 18, 2005 @ 09:45

From the Rockin' for Tots website: "The aim of our fundraising is to help raise money to go towards the purchase of a brain monitor. You can find more information about this piece of equipment here. These usually cost around £15000 but the unit are hoping to have the price dropped a little. This is very new technology so the price will be high. It can be used alongside the incubators and will be a great addition to the equipment already used in the Neo Natal Unit. If we can raise £10000 we will be extremely happy but of course, anything raised to help with this purchase is a great help to this fantastic charity."

"In 2001, a fundraising event was organised in loving memory of our beautiful twin daughters, Robyn and Erin. We lost them in August 2000 at 36 weeks due to acute twin to twin transfusion syndrome. Although the staff at the hospital worked extremely fast delivering them by emergency caesarean sadly it was too late. Robyn was stillborn and Erin was very ill and only survived for one day.

We wanted to do something special in their memory as one of the hardest things about losing a baby is that you have so little memories. We want to thank the staff in the Neo Natal unit who were wonderful and made what little time we had with our girls so very special. We also felt that this year was right for us to do another fundraiser as our girls would have started school this year.

Through the fundraising events in 2001, £8,400 was raised which was put towards the purchase of an EEG machine (brain scan) for use on premature babies in the Neo Natal Unit.

This charity deserves recognition as the work carried out in the Neo Natal unit is at times miraculous . Our story may not have a happy ending but so many tiny babies are delivered and recover thanks to the care and attention given by the staff in these units. You can find out more about the charity and its work/fundraising at www.sscb.org. So there you go - if you want to help out in any way - especially purchasing raffle tickets OR alternatively, click on the Make a Donation button!! This piece of equipment could potentially save many babies lives so give us a hand!"
