[SPOILER] Maiden Rips Up Portugal Report
Reports and reviews are coming in from Maiden's show at the Atlantic Pavilion in Lisbon last night, with pictures and more reviews hopefully arriving soon. Scroll down to read them.Ramses of the Maiden BB's report:
The show started at 9:50h p.m. and ended at about 11:30h. The set list was the same that the shows before. Remember tomorrow was dedicated to Manu da Silva (ex Maiden roadie and manager of Eddie’s bar in Albufeira, who died recently). Before of Phantom of the Opera Bruce had a different talk of what he said in RaR, this time the target was the “mosh people”, you know here in Portugal there’s always lots of people jumping over peoples heads “well, I wouldn’t like to have some of you landing on my head, I would punch him right over, hey but I’m only British” these were some of his words. The Eddies were the same was RaR, I don’t saw the brain entering Eddie’s head, I asked some other people and they didn’t saw it either, we could be distracted by the performance of the guys. Phantom and Drifter were the 2 best songs in my opinion. I have some photos, videos and sound samples taken on a mobile phone, if they came out right I will post them later. Now it’s time to rest a bit after a great show.
Filrod of the Maiden BB's report:
Just arrive from the fantastic show of Maiden. It was my tenth time I saw them and I'll fly to Paris to see IM again on the 25th.
In Lisbon, Bruce dedicated Remember Tomorrow to Manu da Silva, a Portuguese great friend of the band and the one who used to manage the Eddie's Bar in the South of Portugal.
Once again, Bruce said there will be a new album in 2006 and also a tour album next year. Therefore, Maiden still alive to kick everyone around with their strength and energy over the years.

Great show!!
I was paying for some beers when Ides Of March started. At first sound i was a little bit disapointed. There was too much echo in the Atlantic Pavilion and Murders in The Rue Morgue sounded bad. I headed to the front and the sound improved a lot. When Trooper started i was already surrendered..
I saw the brain enter Eddie´s Head.
Bruce´s voice was over the top, Adrian and Dave played there solos in a most magnificent way, i didnt saw much of Janick although he jump around as he usually does, Nicko beat hard on the drumms and he is always a funny figure to see and Steve was in top of is form, always pushing for the crowd. Well done.
Manu da Silva was remembered in one more song to the final ot the show but i forgot wich one.
For me Phanton was the best song played yesterday but Revelations was very good too!
Bruce said that the new album will be in the stands next year and said goodbye with a" Thanks a lot see you next year".
UPDATE: Videos/pictures from the show can now be found here.

I´m there... "Scream for me Lisboa"
cool! its only 11 days to Oslo now!!:D:D:D
I had no doubt about the quality of Maiden of course, but I think that even those who might question their rule have to agree that these guys are a fucking legend!!I was blown away by yesterday's gig in Lisbon...it was everything I expected and more! I just wished I was a couple of inches taller so that I wouldn't miss even a second of such great performance.
It was my first Maiden gig so I arrived early to the surroudings of the Pavilhao Atlantico but had to wait for a lot of people so I ended up missing the entire Dragonforce gig.But than again...who cares? We took the oportunity to drink some beer and meet old metal friends. The Maiden show started at 21.50 local time and had the usual length of about 105 minutes. I ain't a musician so I couldn't tell if they made some of those small mistakes that happened before in this tour but in my opinion everything ran smoothly and there were no noticible mistakes. The songs all rocked and, as it was said before, Rememer Tomorrow and Running Free were emotionally dedicated to Manu by the band and followed by a great round of applause. There was that "Mosh problem" at the early/mid show and Bruce was so serious in his words that for a second I thought he just would go down there and kick the moshers out of the Pavilhao. There was of course the beast in the NOTB, very cool, the walking eddie and other usual props they use in the tour. As for the merch there was teh usual stuff...I was dismayed to see that the prices didn't go along the same line as the ticket's. The t-shirts were 35-40eur and the other products followed the same prices made previously in this tour.
Bruce promised that they would come back to Portugal next year to promote they're next album and I sure hope they'll keep their promise. I am sorry I don't write a complete full-scale report but my available time now is short.
Just a quick thing...a skin-head/nationalist demonstration will take place tomorrow (Saturday 18) in Lisbon and I found the following in a portuguese news site:
"Lisbon's police is going to be specially watchfull tomorrow during the concert of Iron Maiden in Pavilhao Atlantico, Parque das Nações. According to police intelligence this band is supported and apreciatted by skin-head members from all around the world and even one of the guitar players of the band is said to have been a member of a skin-head british organisation."
I think it's only natural that skins like Maiden...I mean who doesn't!??But who is the guitar player mentioned??Anybody knows??
Adeus and see u next year Maiden!!!

Dave Murray was sorta skinhead until 15. He became a hippy overnight when he heard Hendrix for the first time.
Cheers
Thanks for the info Saint
It was a part of discovering himself apparently...
Well I'm pretty sure he isn't a skin-head now...he isn't even bald...
Enjoy your shows everyone!!

Dreamaster adds:
Wow, the concert was fucking great!
The concert started at 9.58pm with The Ides Of March has a taped intro and ppl started to go wild and when it ended the drums roll and Murders In The Rue Morgue kicked in and everybody was headbanging!. It was a real frenzy.
Then came Another Life and Prowler and was when I spotted that some ppl were "lost" in the show. These ppl must know Maiden from the 90's or even from the 2000's and so they were looking at each other trying to figure it out from out albums those songs were. Neverthess, the longtime maiden fans were headbanging all the way with two songs really well played and sang by "monkey" Bruce
The Trooper came and the lost one found their place for a moment and everybody was jumping and singing(Bruce is well dress for this song ).
Then came a sad moment when the show stopped and Bruce dedicated Remember Tomorrow to Manu da Silva, band longtime friend and manager of the famous Eddie's Bar in Portugal. Bruce really sang it with real feeling.
Then the lights came down and the place was filled by gunshots and explosions sounds and some young maiden fans thought that the band was covering metallica's one song he he he but then Nicko pounded the drums with such stamina and Where Eagles Dare began.
Then came the second great moment for all in the night with Run To The Hills.
Revelations came and was a real deal.
Wratchild kicked next and everibody were screaming.
Die With Your Boots On was a nice moment with everody screming die
Then came the highest moment of the night with Phantom Of The Opera and everybody went crazy!
When The Number Of The Beast came we all became satanists screming 666 with the supervision of Satan itself on stage(fucking great!).
Hallowed Be Thy Name came and was the pure moment of cheer and when Iron Maiden started will all knew this great show was coming to the end with Eddie of POM trying to get loose from the roppes
The encores came and only the longtime maiden fans knew them and we were screaming in Running Free at Bruce orders , Drifter was fun and to finish we all got Sanctuary from the law outside
There were pyros in some songs, being the best in the TNOTB. The band was in great shape and having a great time.
One of the best shows of Maiden here.
Cheers
