The Official Maiden Biography Published in French

Posted by The Saint on August 14, 2005 @ 12:19

After our news announcing the swedish and german version of 'Run to the Hills', the official Iron Maiden biography book, Maidenfans.com learns that it has been released in French since June under the name 'L'Epopée des Killers' ('The Epic Tale of the Killers').

Word has it that the translation isn't top notch, but french-speaking fans might find it still interesting.

A friend of mine told me that he sometimes had to refer to the original English version in order to understand what the translator meant, and that there were also whole paragraphs skipped in the translation. A bit of a crap job, if you ask me.

And Sanctuary had told me that the French-speaking market wasn't worth a translation of the book when I offered to do it for them some 2-3 years ago...

That's a shame, Mav. Maybe, you should network a little in order to translate the next edition.

Too bad, your version would have been the best, I'm dead certain of that !

Cheers
