According to EMI Spain, a 'The Trooper' CD single could be launched during the Eddie Rips Up The World Tour.
It could also be the promo single for the forthcoming 'Death on the Road' DVD/CD to be released on August 29.

Yes, but as a single, it's way easier to sell that any newer stuff.
And since the release happens in the middle of the Eddie Rips Up The World Tour, this might make sense.

hmm, do we really need another single release? First the number of the beast and now the trooper...
next up in the line are 2MTM and Wasted Years I guess... They can do all the other after that, maybe get a number one spot with Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter in 2009...

You shouldnt be. For cyin out loud Maiden release new stuff all the time. DOTR tour CD/DVD coming in august. So what if they re-release yet another old single. They have to constantly aquire new fans as well as satisfy the old ones. This doesnt bother me at all.
i think it`s great that maiden is releasing old singles..so that the kids kan take part in the great adventures of iron maidens music!!

Iron Maiden are just trying to satisfy the new fans and the old fans. They are probably thinking that older fans would be upset if they would release new stuff and newer fans would be upset if they would release old stuff only.

I think I kind of just said that earlier.
Its no big deal. I dont buy everything they sell. I didnt buy the stupid looking Eddies Head boxset, for example. Wasnt impressed with that one and probably will never get it.
And the re-released stuff isnt majorly exciting either, but I`ll probably buy the Trooper part duex anyway.

Its not necessary and its not overly exciting, but as a collector I like adding stuff to my collection. A new release is a welcome edition. I'd rather they release singles such as this than go for 2 years without releasing anything. I understand where a few are coming from though, its raking the money in, but to be honest, I dont really care, i'm getting something new for the collection, end of.

Interesting. Will wait a while before making a new news headline: I want to know if EMI Spain is the only one to propose this promo this summer or if other distributors/labels across Europe will also think of it.
