This Sunday Ozzfest Gig is Postponed, No Maiden

on August 5, 2005 @ 08:02

According to various sources, the Ozzfest gig planned for August 7 is off and will be rescheduled for September.

This is again due to Ozzy having voice issues, but this time, it seems the organizers won't let Iron Maiden headline, a shame for all those fans that bought tickets.

Hopefully, this cancellation isn't a sign for things to come as Maiden isn't as flexible when it comes to postponing gigs, due to their earlier commitments.

According to Minnesota's Pure Rock 93X, the Ozzfest concert originally planned for this Sunday, August 7 at the Float-Rite Amphitheatre in Somerset, WI will be rescheduled for Saturday, September 10. "The word is: Ozzy [Osbourne] injured his voice and needs a break," reads a posting on the radio station's web site.

"Those that have reservations to camp this weekend at Float-Rite campground are encouraged to keep their plans. Upon on arrival at Floatrite this weekend ... campers will be given a complimentary certificate for camping at the September 10th Ozzfest performance."

For more information, call the Float-Rite campground at 800-826-7096.

As previously reported, BLACK SABBATH were forced to back out of three appearances in a week due to Osbourne's health. The band were an early scratch from Tuesday's (August 2) Ozzfest tour stop at the Germain Amphitheatre in Columbus, Ohio, which meant IRON MAIDEN once again did a full headlining set. SABBATH previously dropped off the July 27 date in Holmdel, New Jersey, and again on Sunday (July 31) in Noblesville, Indiana.

BLACK SABBATH are scheduled to headline tonight's (August 4) Ozzfest concert at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan.

I suspect this is the beginning of the end for Ozzy and Ozzfest

The real sad thing is that they could have maintained the gig for the hordes of Maiden fans...

Plus, if the local promoters did read the news, they would have seen that a wiser decision would have been to keep the show for Maiden, since, in September, there will be (or might be, depending on the illness) only Sabbath and Velvet Revolver (if the band shows up).

Anyway. It's something-fest, not Maidenfest biggrin.gif

Cheers

If Ozzy flakes out on the 20th, I'm going to be pissed, since Maiden would be the ONLY band I'd really give a shit about in the entire Ozzfest thing.
