BLAST Article About Maiden's Present and Future

on August 18, 2006 @ 09:44

[Dave] "The piece 'Out Of The Shadows' wouldn't work at all in the rehearsal room. Bruce got quite frustrated by that. But in the studio, we could rearrange the song as a band so that it could still go on the album."

The band continue talking about the individual songwriters and how big Adrian's influence was. Finally, Bruce talks about the forthcoming tour.

[Bruce] "All those who have heard the material are completely excited. That's why we plan to bring the complete new album onstage, from the first to the last song. Then we'll play a couple of classics and good night."

Finally, Bruce also talks a bit about the band's future.

"We'll begin rehearsals in September, then the tour begins. At the moment, Japan will be the start, but maybe we'll do a couple of gigs in the USA before that. Europe will follow in November, and nothing will happen in 2007. There is supposed to be a big festival tour in 2008. That could already be our final farewell."

This does not come as a complete surprise, Bruce has, after all, talked about the band's end several times. It is, however, a bit shocking that the planning seems to be so exact, and Bruce notices that. "We want to stop as a band that the fans keep in good memory. Apart from that, the members won't just disappear. For my part, I still have a lot of power" (...)

Note from the Maidenfans team: Before you start raving about this paragraph, let us point out a couple of things. First of all, the world does not end if Maiden split. Second, Bruce has been known to say a couple of things about the band that turned out to be wrong: He announced a tour in Summer 2006, for example. Third: Take it easy and let things come their way; you won't be able to change things anyway. Fourth: This is not necessarily a leading magazine (it is actually the magazine of a label that does not distribute Maiden), and it's wise to mistrust information from this type of publication. At least until it is confirmed by a more serious magazine or another band member.

When was this interview done? It sounds pretty dated, as Bruce is still talking about them playing the new album back to front on the tour.

Note from ironrnaiden: The world does not end if Maiden split; however, it gets a lot more depressing

Harris said after finish AMOLAD, that the band were really happy with the new album and that everybody wanted to record at least one more album, so I don't believe that we are going to see in the next 4 years a maiden split. And I hope for 2007 Maiden will plays in Mexico. Up the Irons!!!

Rod Smallwood: "This time it was 4 days plus 3 for video and photos!! But between them they covered about 120 interviews [in june 2006]. They like recording and touring but after so many years of having to do it they hate doing videos, photos and interviews."

Bruce also said in French HARD ROCK MAG that the summer tour in 2008 to support the history DVD part2 will be with the complete stage of the World Slavery Tour (84-85) with all those Egyptians stuff.
Concerning the end of the band, Steve has always said that Maiden would do 15 albums. After the new one, we should expect one more !
Despite the rumors, long live to Maiden as as far as they go we will be there to support them !
Up the irons
Franck from France.

I mean I'm a very big fan. This thought makes me very sad. I've been to many Maiden Tours and had a hell lot of fun. But in a way it is right, if they feel they got the best album right now. And there is nothing more left to get anything better, Stop Maiden, the best is when you leave the world as a champion. Actually too sad for us but the best for the legend of Iron fuckin' Maiden. LONG LIVE MAIDEN AND TEH BEST FANS OF THE WORLD!!! MMMMMAAAAAAIIIIDDDDDEEENNN!!!!!

A member of the Dutch Iron Maiden fanclub, who writes articles of Maiden in the Dutch Metla Hammer "("de Aardschok") and personaly knows Steve, told me that Maiden will do a full festival tour in 2008 and that there will be a new album after AMOLAD. The fact that Bruce says that the whole album will be played on the upcomming tour is not true. They will play a lot of songs of that album, but they will also play a lot of classics. I am afraid that the article is either not true or outdated. Don't believe rumours before is on their homepage. I am quite sure they will play more shows in jan-feb 2007.
Maiden will be with us for at least a couple of years, that's a promise!
