Janick Gers: "THe X Factor I Felt Was a Great Album"
BraveWords spoke to Janick Gers about a number of topics including the band's latest album, a Matter Of Life And Death. Looking back (somewhere!) in time, BW&BK poised the question: What are your favorites of the catalogue?"You know, it’s like saying which is your favorite kids," reflects Gers. "You know, I’ve made lots of albums in my time, with White Spirit, Gillan, Fish, I couldn’t pick one. It’s like having eight, nine, ten children, and saying the middle one is your favourite. I like things, a solo here, a melody there, but I like them all the same. I enjoyed playing on all those albums. X Factor I felt was a great album. Wasn’t well-received at the time. The grunge thing had happened, and every rock artist was canceling tours right across America. We went out and we played and we were the most unfashionable band at the time in the world, but we still went out and did the gigs and we enjoyed ourselves, and we thought we had a good album. See you go out and you play, and you make an album, and you hope the people like it, and if they do like it, got bless them, and the people that don’t, well, God bless them too."

The X Factor was an awesome album and the best Maiden album of the 90's, anyone who says otherwise is/was blinded by the fact that it didn't feature Bruce.
now, I think it's a great album. one of my favorite
Face facts, The X Factor has a few good tracks, but overall is a mediocre album. Even with Bruce it would have been mediocre. Those who think it is 'great' are deluding themselves.
Face facts, whether The X Factor has no good tracks, a few good tracks or only good tracks, and whether it*s mediocre or brilliant overall, is purely a matter of personal preference and entirely subjective. Those who think they can objectively determine whether an album is "good" or not need to see a doctor.
Shadow, what a load of shite. ;-)
This is why Jannick needs to go. The X-Factor is turgid.
XFactor was and is GREAT! love that album. ok, AMOLAD is better, but still, XFactor is great.
its A PERFECT ALBUM!!!!!
If The X Factor really was 'great' and 'perfect', it would generally be acknowledged as a classic album, but it isn't. If you like TXF, fine, but using the terms 'great', 'perfect' and 'awesome' is questionable. That kind of praise should be reserved for real classics like NOTB or POM.
THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM!!!JANICK RULLES!!!!!!!
When it comes to a maiden album surely it will contain something great, perfect and awesome... IRON MAIDEN=THE BEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD
