Nicko and Steve Arguing about Double Pedal Bass Drum
The latest issue of 'Batterie', a French mag, has a nice feature on Nicko McBrain.Our favorite drummer explains that he never took any lessons and learnt everything by listening. He still practices alone, like in the last 6 months.
He's also mentionning that he loves doing his famous drums clinics and will do others in the future.
Interestingly enough, Steve wanted Nicko to use a double pedal bass drum on 'Lord of Light' but the Florida-resident replied that he didn’t have the time to practice. "I can't play it now, if you want this, then go get another drummer to play it." Steve abandonned the idea after seeing that Nicko performed well on his own.
Incidentally, Nicko mentions that latter song as being his favorite on the album.
