Bullet For My Vallentine Upset at US Maiden Fans

on January 10, 2007 @ 16:46

Canada's Dose.ca recently conducted an interview with Bullet For My Valentine drummer Michael "Moose" Thomas. In it he talks about opening for Maiden on the US leg of the tour:

"I wish the crowds could have been a bit nicer to us — especially in Quebec City. They weren't very nice … It's not very nice when you're trying to do a set and, all through it, 15,000 MAIDEN fans are chanting for MAIDEN to come on. [But] you've got to laugh. You can't be upset for a long time."

Long and short of it is that many Maiden fans don't want to see bands like Bullet For My Vallentine, they want to see bands like Judas Priest.
I know Maiden want to build a nice pot of money to retire on and want to build the fan base by touring with "nu metal band of the moment a-z" but it seems to me that the majority of the people who go to these gigs are Maiden fans already and this kind of band aren't going to eep us happy.

Ok first off they complain about the US but then mention Quebec City which is in Canada.

And come on, mixing emo with the legendary Iron Maiden? What the hell did they expect? I don't think Maiden needs to build a bigger fanbase BFMV, I think you guys need to stop sucking. Hell I even booed them. BFMV was awful, plain and simple. You just don't mix emo and metal, especially with Iron Maiden. Those two bands shouldn't be in the same state.

I think the Maiden manager was droppings some serious acid when he signed those guys on tour with them. Don't get me wrong, I've become fans of a lot of bands that opened for some of my favorite bands, but bullet just sucked.

Strange. I've seen quite a few bands support Maiden, most noteably Slayer, Megadeth and Trivium, and I don't recall anyone chanting "MAIDEN!" during their sets. Perhaps it's a matter of quality.......?

I saw them at Uniondale/Nassau. BFMV was so bad that at the end of the set when the drummer threw his sticks into the crowd, the crowd threw them back. They were way too generic and bland to be opening for Iron Maiden. Our guys can do much better.

Did anyone see Funeral For A Friend? They were booed too. I wasn't a big fan of Trivium either
